Northeast Asphalt is signatory to the Operating Engineers Union Local 139. Heavy equipment operators are union members, and we are an apprentice training contractor as well. Our non-skilled workforce performs the work of a laborer, but at NEA those "laborers" are actually a member of Local 139. This allows for a certain amount of light equipment operation, and access to the equipment skills training that the Union provides.
A typical career path to NEA begins with a trainee performing laboring work with a paving or grading crew using various hand tools. Trainees may also set up traffic control, and perform other vital hands-on functions for the crew.
Many trainees aspire to advance into the operator's apprenticeship program, which prepares them for a career as a skilled operator. The rate of advancement for any individual depends on their ability, their drive to succeed and their attitude toward safety, quality, ethics and productivity.
We are proud to offer unique and very promising career opportunities in Heavy/Highway construction, and we look forward to speaking with you about how you may be part of our team.
